Silver Spring man accused of manufacturing an explosive device arrested

A Silver Spring man accused of making an explosive device was arrested Wednesday, authorities said.

Christopher Bolton is charged with manufacturing or posession of a destructive device. He is being held on a $750,000 bond, according to the Prince George’s County Sheriff’s Office.

In September, Bolton was angered by a disagreement with the victim and threatened to kill the victim, authorities said. He then began to build a device consisting of screws, batteries, .40-caliber ammunition rounds and an undetermined liquid in a plastic bottle, officials reported.

On Feb. 7, the device was found in a shed in Aquasco in Prince George’s County. The Office of the Fire Marshal’s bomb squad safely removed the device, and authorities issued a warrant for Bolton’s arrest. Bolton was arrested Wednesday in Montgomery County, officials said.
