On this day, May 16, in 1990, Christian Brando, son of Hollywood legend Marlon Brando, shot and killed his half-sister’s boyfriend at the actor’s home in Los Angeles. It was Marlon Brando who called the police from the estate on Mulholland Drive.
Christian Brando, 32, had only met Dag Drollet, Cheyenne Brando’s boyfriend of four years, several hours earlier.
Christian said he had accidentally shot Drollet as they struggled for a gun during an argument over whether the boyfriend had beaten Cheyenne, who was pregnant.
Christian pleaded guilty to manslaughter and spent five years in prison.
Cheyenne Brando was the actor’s daughter by Tarita Teriipia, a Tahitian actress who played his sweetheart in the 1962 film “Mutiny on the Bounty.”
Cheyenne committed suicide in 1995. Christian died of pneumonia in 2008.
