The man convicted of killing federal intern Chandra Levy has been sentenced to 60 years in prison.
Ingmar Guandique, a 29-year-old illegal immigrant from El Salvador, is expected to serve about 50 years of that term. D.C. Superior Court Judge Gerald Fisher said Guandique will spend the rest of his life in prison “in all likelihood.”
Chandra Levy‘s mother, Susan Levy, spoke in court before the sentence was handed down. She told Guandique he was “lower than a cockroach” and told him to “rot in hell,” before pointing at him and closing with “F–k you.”
Guandique also spoke, saying through a translator: “I’m very sorry for what happened to your daughter, but I had nothing to do with it. I am innocent.”
