Authorities believe a man in a wig of dreadlocks has robbed the same Montgomery County bank in less than two months.
Detectives are asking the public’s help in capturing the thief.
At about 3 p.m. Wednesday, a man with long matted coils of hair and a rainbow-colored Rastafarian style hat walked into Sovereign Bank at 17920 Georgia Ave. in Olney, pulled out a long handgun and demanded cash, police said. The man took the money and fled on foot. No one was injured.
The robber was described as a black male, between 20 and 30 years old, 6-feet-1 and about 175 pounds. He was wearing a striped polo shirt and jeans and dreadlocks that appear to be a wig.
Montgomery County police said a man who matched that description robbed the same bank on July 2. During that time he also wore a baseball cap over ratty-looking dreadlocks. Police found both items near the bank.
