Larry Porter and his family thanked members of the Prince George’s County Fire and EMS for rescuing him from a mulch machine in April.

Porter, 60, of Maysville, W.Va., was stuck for nearly two hours in the hopper of a large piece of machinery at a mulch plant in Laurel. Rescuers sedated Porter and took apart the machinery to remove him. He suffered serious injuries to his legs and was recently released from the hospital.

Porter says he doesn’t remember much about that day but recognized some of the rescuers.
