DNA might link Thomas to another Md. attack

Greenbelt Police said DNA evidence might link a sexual assault there to man already suspected in 17 rape cases in Maryland, Virginia and two other states

Officer Kelly Lawson told the Associated Press that a state police laboratory will conduct further testing to try to establish a conclusive DNA match between Aaron Thomas and the evidence in a 1999 rape in Greenbelt.

Thomas already is charged with three rapes in Virginia, and the earliest attack attributed to the “East Coast Rapist” occurred in Prince George’s County in 1997. Assaults have been reported in Maryland, Virginia, Rhode Island and Connecticut.
