Three men were sentenced to prison for their roles in a drive-by shooting aimed at rival gang members that unleashed more than 25 shots on a Northwest D.C. neighborhood.

Prosecutors said 24-year-old Sergio Waynes, 27-year-old Brian Coles and 28-year-old Marcio Green began firing a semi-automatic pistol near Ninth and Crittenden streets NW at about 5 a.m. on Aug. 17 because they believed members of a gang from that neighborhood were responsible for the July 2009 killing of Dewayne Coles — Waynes’ best friend and Brian Coles’ brother.
