Arrests made in 2 D.C. homicides

 

D.C. police on Tuesday announced arrests in two homicide cases. Police said 19-year-old Harold Proctor, of Upper Marlboro, is charged with felony murder in the Dec. 17 stabbing death of 20-year-old Kevin Blackwell Jr. Blackwell was found slain on the 900 block of Burns Street SE at about 10:30 p.m. In an unrelated cases, 25-year-old Andrew W. Williams, of Northeast Washington, is charged with first-degree murder while armed in the May 14 killing of 30-year-old Junon Snead. Snead was fatally shot in the head shortly before 6 a.m. on the 3700 block of Jay Street NE, police said. Both Proctor and Williams were taken into custody on Tuesday, police said.

Man slain in Silver Spring

Montgomery County police are investigating the shooting death of a 24-year-old man as homicide. Officers received a report of gunshots on the 11400 block of Stewart Lane in the White Oak area of Silver Spring at about 6:40 a.m. Tuesday, said Officer Howard Hersh, a police spokesman. Police found Franklin Amobi, of Silver Spring, in the street with trauma to his upper body, Hersh said. He said officers also recovered evidence that a firearm was discharged, but would not elaborate on that evidence. Hersh said officers have not identified any suspects.

Police probe Glen Burnie robbery

Police say a man apparently broke into a Glen Burnie woman’s car outside an apartment building, then hid in the vehicle and robbed her. Anne Arundel County police said the 45-year-old woman reported that she entered her car outside the Glen Ridge Apartments on the unit block of Glen Ridge Road at about 4:30 a.m. Friday. An unknown man arose from the back seat and demanded money, police said. Police said the woman handed over her purse. The suspect then fled on foot with the bag.
