Four held in connection with Lansdowne homicide

Two Virginia males have been charged with capital murder in the March 22 slaying of William Bennett and two others are in custody in connection with the incident, Loudoun County police said.

Darwin G. Bowman, 18, of Annandale, and a 17-year-old male from Sterling are being charged with murder. Capital murder charges are forthcoming against Anthony R. Roberts, 20, of Middleburg, who is currently being held on other charges. An 18-year-old male suspect from Sterling, is also being held on unrelated charges. All suspects are currently being held without bond. – David Sherfinski

One dead, two injured in shooting in Southeast

A 17-year-old District resident died from multiple gunshot wounds and two others were injured in an incident early Friday, police said.

Three males suffering from gunshot wounds were discovered just past 1:30 a.m. Friday morning in the 900 block of Barnaby Street SE.

17-year-old Kwanzaa Diggs of Southeast was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead just after 2 a.m. The two other victims were transported to area hospitals and treated for non-life-threatening injuries. – David Sherfinski

Single-engine plane strays into restricted air space

 A single-engine plane that unintentionally strayed into restricted air space near the Capitol caused the White House to be temporarily locked down and officials to take steps to evacuate the Capitol building.

The plane was quickly escorted by two F-16 fighter jets and two U.S. Coast Guard helicopters to a small airport in Maryland on Friday afternoon, officials said. The pilot reportedly said the GPS on the plane failed. – Freeman Klopott

Man stabbed to death in Fort Washington

A man was stabbed to death in Fort Washington, Prince George’s County police said. Police did not immediately release the man’s identity, pending notification of kin.

He was found on the ground on the 8700 block of Cumbria Court a little after 5 p.m. Thursday, police said Friday. – Freeman Klopott
