Police-involved shooting at

Wheaton shopping center

A Montgomery County police officer fired his service weapon while responding to shoplifters leaving a Target store in Wheaton.

Police saw the getaway vehicle leaving the shopping center Tuesday evening, and one officer fired a service weapon. The vehicle was later found abandoned and there was no evidence the suspects were injured. One suspect was taken into custody inside the store.

The officer has been placed on paid leave while police investigate the shooting.



Ex-HUD official charged

over Redskins tickets

A former top official of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development was charged with failing to report receiving two luxury box tickets for a Washington Redskins game. Frank Davis, who once headed the Office of Department Operations and Coordination, received the tickets, which had a total value of $260. He was charged with knowingly making a false statement on his executive branch financial disclosure form, a misdemeanor.
