Teenage girls charged in assault of youth facility staff member

Five teenage girls living at a facility for at-risk youth were arrested for allegedly assaulting a staff member, Prince William County police said.

About 4 a.m. Sunday, police responded to a Youth For Tomorrow campus in Bristow. A 42-year-old staff member told police that five female residents attacked her by choking, scratching and punching her.

The teenagers also destroyed pieces of property before fleeing a dorm, and three of the girls assaulted a 15-year-old female resident while they were fleeing, police said.

A 15-year-old girl and two 16-year-old girls face charges for both of the assaults and were charged with two counts of assault and battery and one count of destruction of property, police said. One 16-year-old girl and one 14-year-old girl were charged with one count of assault and battery and one count of destruction of property in connection with the staff member’s assault.
