Bones found in SE believed to be human
Bones were found Saturday when citizens were conducting a cleanup of the wooded area on Malcolm X Boulevard and Second Street SE, police said Wednesday.
Police were called to the scene and were assisted by members of the D.C. Chief Medical Examiner’s Office and the Smithsonian to collect the bones, said Sgt. Raul Mendez.
The police canvassed the park Tuesday for further bones and may return to conduct additional searches.

Girl in Minnie Mouse mask charged in two attacks
Police arrested a Dumfries teenager who wore a Minnie Mouse mask while she and two other girls allegedly attacked women in Woodbridge.
Prince William County police spokesman Jonathan Perok said the teenagers assaulted a woman and took her bag and phone. One of the girls was wearing the mask of Mickey Mouse’s paramour.
Police got another call minutes later of a another attack about a mile away.
Police arrested two 17-year-olds and a 16-year-old. They were charged as juveniles.
Frostburg student sentenced 5 years in athlete’s slaying
A former Frostburg State University student was sentenced to five years in prison for killing a school basketball player and wounding another.
Tyrone Hall, 21, of Glen Burnie, was sentenced Wednesday for the voluntary manslaughter of Brandon Carroll, 20, of Waldorf, and second-degree assault of Ellis Hartridge Jr., 22, of Washington.
Hall admitted to firing a shotgun at both men in what he claimed was self-defense.
Hartridge said he wanted to fight Hall after a woman whom both had dated told him that Hall had hit her.
