Montgomery County police are on the lookout for a man who leapt over a teller’s counter to rob a bank in Rockville.
Police said the robber immediately vaulted over the counter after he walked into the M&T Bank located at 4 Courthouse Square shortly after 10 a.m. on March 28.
The man announced he was robbing the bank and ordered the tellers to open their drawers, police said. After the bank employees handed over cash, the robber vaulted back over the counter and fled from the branch on foot, authorities said.
Police didn’t disclose how much cash the man obtained.
No one was injured during the heist.
The robber is described as a black man who was about 6 feet tall and has a heavy build. At the time of the heist, he was wearing a baseball cap, gloves and what appeared to be a Washington Redskins jacket.
Anyone who has information about the bank robbery is asked to call the police department’s robbery section at 240-773-5103. Tipsters can also call Crime Solvers at 866-411-TIPS (8477). Crime Solvers is offering a reward of up to $1,000 for information that leads to an arrest or indictment in the case.
