Site created to catch ‘East Coast Rapist’

A task force has created a Web site to try to track down the “East Coast Rapist,” a man suspected of attacking at least 17 women over a 14-year period. The sexual assaults, which have been linked by DNA evidence, have been taking place along the East Coast since 1997. A new Web site, eastcoastrapist.com, aims to spread information about the rapes and sketches of the man.

Attacks have been reported in Virginia, Maryland, Rhode Island and Connecticut. The most recent was the rape of two teenagers in Dale City, Va., on Halloween night in 2009.

The rapist is described as a black man with a medium build, who would now be in his 30s or 40s. He often wore a black mask. – Emily Babay
