Pr. George’s police seek fatheraccused of kidnapping son, 1

Prince George’s County police are looking for a man they say abducted his 1-year-old son from Hyattsville.

Cornell Antonio Bennett, 24, allegedly forced his way into a home on the 3000 block of Bright Seat Road at about 9 p.m. Monday, according to police spokesman Cpl. Mike Rodriguez.

Bennett took his son, Jo’Ell Jackson, from the home, police say.

Police welcome U.Md. students

To deal with tensions between police and University of Maryland students in the wake of allegations of police brutality last spring, authorities in College Park are hosting a “Welcome Back Night.”

City and school officials and merchants will host the event at 5 p.m. Thursday at College Park City Hall, 4500 Knox Road.

In March, Prince George’s County police officers in riot gear were caught on camera beating students after the Terrapins upset Duke in a men’s basketball game in March. Several officers were suspended, and an investigation is ongoing.

Ex-postmaster admits stamp theft

A former postmaster has pleaded guilty to stealing $59,958 in postage stamps from his post office .

Gilbert Ennis, 56, of Lanham, admitted Tuesday that he falsely reported a robbery at the Marbury Post Office in Charles County to cover up the theft of the stamps.

He is scheduled to be sentenced Dec. 6 and faces up to 10 years in prison and a $250,000 fine.
