Stupid Crimes

Ummm, that’s my wife’s weed, officer

A Florida man’s pot-growing operation was discovered after he shot himself in the hand then invited police into his home.

John Pardus, 30, was being treated for the accidental gunshot wound when he told police he didn’t know how to secure a handgun at his house, The Daytona Beach News-Journal reports. Officers then followed him home and went inside to help unload the gun.

Once inside, they smelled marijuana coming from upstairs.

They eventually found tents rigged with irrigation systems growing the drug on the second floor of the house. In total, 46 marijuana plants were found.

John’s wife, Kimberly Pardus, 31, eventually told police details about the pot-growing operation.

John Pardus, however, denied involvement. He claimed his wife is the only person who used the second floor of their house.

Both were charged with cultivation of marijuana, possession or use of narcotic paraphernalia and possession of marijuana.

Secret flier miles

Several airline staffers were suspended after an 11-year-old boy wandered away from his mother while shopping, went through security at England’s Manchester Airport and boarded a plane to Rome.

He mingled with families to get by security without a ticket and was discovered mid-flight aboard a Jet2 plane, according to the BBC.

A Jet2 spokesman later admitted the mistake but assured passengers the boy had been through a “full security search.”

The boy landed in Rome and was then flown back home safely.

Walmart misfire

A Texas man was arrested after he accidentally fired a gun in Walmart, injuring a fellow shopper and her 5-year-old daughter.

Todd Canady, 23, reached into his pocket to get money while buying milk, according to WFAA.com.

That’s when he accidentally pulled the trigger of the .40-caliber handgun holstered inside his pants. The bullet hit the ground but the shell and debris hit another shopper and a 5-year-old girl, causing her to bleed.

Canady then took off running, even though police said he has a concealed handgun license. He was arrested in the Walmart parking lot after a short chase, according to WFAA.com.

He has been charged with evading arrest. Dallas police indicated Canady might also be charged with injuring a child.
