“With violent offenders like Young, it is important that we get them off the streets as soon as possible,” said Deputy Marshal Greg Baxter. “We are asking the community’s assistance for their help in locating Young before he strikes again.”
Shortly before 6 p.m. on July 10, the robber entered the Claude Taylor Photo Gallery, located at 1627 Connecticut Ave NW, and pretended to buy a photograph, police said.
At the counter, he ordered the employee to open up the cash register and said he had a gun. He placed his hands under his shirt and indicated he had a weapon, police said.
The employee opened the register and gave the robber about $250 in cash. The thief fled on foot with a paper bag full of money. Nobody was injured in the heist.
In addition to this robbery, authorities said Young is wanted for questioning in relation to five other armed robberies in along the U Street corridor, including the armed robbery of a cab driver.
Young is listed as being 5-feet-10 and 165 pounds.
