Man shot to death while playing basketball in Md.
A man was fatally shot as he was playing basketball at an elementary school in New Carrollton. New Carrollton police said 23-year-old Alusine Kargbo was playing basketball at Carrollton Elementary School on the 8300 block of Quintana Street when someone approached the court and fired shots shortly after 8:45 p.m. Tuesday. Kargbo and the people he was playing with didn’t know the assailant, police said. Kargbo was taken to a hospital and was pronounced dead about 11 p.m., Prince George’s County police said. No arrests have been made in the slaying.
Motorcyclist killed in Rockville crash
A man was killed when he was tossed from his motorcycle and struck a car in Rockville.
The collision happened on West Montgomery Avenue near Hurley Avenue about 10:40 a.m. Tuesday, according to Montgomery County police. The motorcyclist, identified as 48-year-old Mohit K. Lal Bhatnagar, of Potomac, was somehow thrown from his 2008 Kawasaki and hit a Nissan Versa.
He was taken to Suburban Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The Nissan driver was unharmed and stayed at the scene.
Girl sexually assaulted in Bristow youth facility
A teenage girl was sexually assaulted by another girl at a youth facility in Bristow, according to Prince William County police.
Police said a 17-year-old girl at Youth for Tomorrow, a residential center for at-risk youth, reported that she was sexually assaulted about 7:30 p.m. Tuesday. Police didn’t describe the nature of the assault.
Another resident at the facility, a 16-year-old girl, was arrested and charged with aggravated sexual battery and object sexual penetration, police said. Police said the arrested teen is being held at a juvenile detention center. – Emily Babay
