Man dies in Montgomery County police custody

A 34-year-old Virginia man died while in police custody after authorities believe he might have eaten a packet of crack cocaine.

Police responded to a drug activity call on the 14600 block of Deveraux Terrace in North Potomac on Monday and found several people in a black sport utility vehicle.

Folahan Oladeinde was in the driver’s seat and police discovered he was wanted on unrelated charges. When they took him into custody, officers noticed he was chewing something. They called for an ambulance believing he had ingested a drug. Oladeinde died at a hospital.

Police found crack cocaine in the SUV and are awaiting an autopsy.

The 39-year-old was defending the mansion from the invaders when he was killed May 17. The $25,000 adds to a $1,000 being offered by Crime Solvers.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Solvers at 866-411-TIPS(8477).

P.G. creates traffic safety unit

Despite falling crime levels, Prince George’s County still leads Maryland in traffic fatalities and county police say they’ve created a special unit to combat them.

The traffic safety unit will deploy in areas where crashes frequently occur, monitoring for drivers who run red lights, checking on seat belts and looking for speeders. Police said they hope the result will be more alert and safer drivers.
