A 23-year-old woman was sexually assaulted in a parking garage for the Ballston Common Mall, officials said.
About 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, the woman, an Arlington resident, was returning to her vehicle and was within feet of her car on the fourth floor of the garage when the suspect approached her from behind, lifted her skirt and fondled her. The woman screamed, causing the suspect to run away, Arlington police spokesman Dustin Sternbeck said.
The woman drove away from the garage and called police, Sternbeck said. She refused medical attention.
The suspect was described as a black male, 17-to 25-years-old, 6 feet tall and 150 pounds. He was wearing dark baggy pants, a light T-shirt and a black knit hat.
Tuesday evening, a 23-year-old woman jogging on a trail in Arlington was raped, officials said. Police said they do not have reason to believe that the two incidents are related.
