Arrest of Va. woman ordered in same-sex parent case

A Vermont judge has ordered the arrest of a Virginia woman who has refused to turn over to her former lesbian partner their 7-year-old daughter.

Lisa Miller of Forest, Va., was found in contempt of court Tuesday. Miller failed to surrender custody of their daughter on Jan. 1, and has since disappeared. Their daughter is now considered a missing person.

Miller and Janet Jenkins had a civil union in Vermont in 2000, had the baby two years later and broke up in 2003. Miller moved to Virginia, where she renounced homosexuality and became an evangelical Christian.
