The man who was arrested for taking a knife to a “Baby Trump” balloon outside a college football game last weekend said a fit of politically-fueled rage led to his actions.
“I got so fired up when I rolled by the balloon, and I rolled my window down, and I said something to them, and I figured they saw me,” Hoyt Deau Hutchinson, 32, told a local radio station in Alabama.
Hutchinson was arrested on Saturday after he confronted people who were protesting Trump’s attendance at a University of Alabama football game and popped a giant balloon of Trump’s likeness in the form of a baby.
“I went and bought me an Alabama shirt and walked up like I was walking to the game and like I was going to take a picture of it (the Trump balloon) … I was so fired up. I was shaking I was so mad,” he told the syndicated Rick and Bubba show.
Hutchinson said his anger with Democrats policies, specifically on abortion, have been bubbling inside him for quite some time. When he saw the “Baby Trump” balloon, he lost his cool, he said.
“It comes a point when you gotta take a stand,” he said. “We don’t have two parties anymore. We have good versus evil. When you got one party that says it’s okay to kill babies, and by the way, this is the first time I’ve ever seen a liberal get mad about chopping up a baby.”
After being arrested, Hutchinson was released on a $2,500 bond.
