D.C. man killed in overnight shooting is identified

District police have identified a man who was killed in a shooting overnight in Southeast Washington.

At about 10:15 p.m., Thursday, police responded to the 5000 block of H Street SE for a report of a shooting victim. Police found a man suffering from gunshots wounds. D.C. fire officials transported him to a hospital, where he died.

The victim has been identified as 21-year-old Ronald Byrant, of Southeast Washington, police said.

It appeared the shooting happened in the 5000 block of Benning Road, and the victim ran to H Street.

Another person was injured in the attack, but not from gunshot wounds, police said.

No arrests have been made.
