A Dumfries man is accused of robbing a grocery store at gunpoint, then fleeing police with his 2-month-old son in the vehicle.
Prince William County police allege that Marquise A. Cody, 22, robbed a Bloom grocery store in Lake Ridge shortly before 10 p.m. Monday. Cody allegedly displayed a handgun and demanded money, then fled with an undisclosed amount of cash.
Police say Cody ignored officers who tried to stop him, and a vehicle pursuit continued into Stafford County. When he was apprehended, police found his 2-month-old son in the Dodge Neon.
The boy was unharmed and has been released to family.
Cody has been charged with armed robbery, child neglect, felony eluding and various weapons offenses. He was being held Tuesday without bond.
