Driver in custody after trying to sneak unauthorized SUV into White House complex

The Secret Service said they have caught a person trying to sneak into the White House complex by following another authorized SUV into the complex.

The unauthorized SUV was stopped by officials on Thursday at 4:45 a.m., and the driver was charged with unlawful entry. Secret Service and the D.C. Explosive Ordinance Disposal unit responded to the scene, closing off 17th Street and Pennsylvania Avenue.

The Washington Examiner has learned from a source that the driver was a woman, and she has been attempting to get into the White House complex for the last month. The Secret Service arrested her after she used her SUV to try to get in.

The Secret Service said the driver used a black Mercedes-Benz SUV wheres he was stopped at a complex checkpoint. A photo from the scene shows police rifling through the car with what looks like bundles of brightly colored material sitting outside of the car.

It is unclear what the person’s motive was in attempting to breach the complex.
