Police arrested a man for allegedly making a threat against a Texas Walmart on Saturday.
In the early hours of Saturday morning, Harlingen police received reports of an imminent threat targeting a local Walmart. They later found the suspect, who had reportedly posted the threat on social media, at his home and took him into custody on a charge of making a terrorist threat.
The suspect’s identity has not yet been released, but police indicated that he is awaiting arraignment at the Harlingen City Jail.
The incident follows a mass shooting at an El Paso, Texas, Walmart last weekend, which took the lives of 22 people. It also comes on the heels of two other incidents involving threats against Walmart locations.
In one case, a Missouri man, who claimed to be testing Second Amendment limits, was arrested for making a terrorist threat against another Walmart after he showed up at the store armed with tactical weapons and more than 100 rounds of ammunition.
The other incident involved a Florida man who threatened to “shoot up” a Walmart after he was “intrigued” by the El Paso shooting. Police identified, located, and arrested him within hours.
