On this day in crime history – September 2

On this day in 1970: Four anti-Vietnam War protesters were charged in the massive explosion that rocked a building on the campus of the University of Wisconsin, killing a university physics researcher.

The bombers used a stolen Ford Econoline van filled with close to 2,000 pounds of explosives. Three of the four men were later arrested and convicted; the fourth man — Leo Burt — remains wanted by the FBI.
