The owner of DC Improv was found dead Wednesday morning in a hotel room in the Phoenix area, police said.
Mark Anderson, 60, had been reported missing by his wife in mid-May and was discovered by a housekeeper at a Days Inn about 11 a.m. Wednesday, according to Buckeye, Ariz. police. The Arizona Republic reported that an autopsy will be conducted Friday.
According to a flyer circulated when he went missing, Anderson had last been seen in San Diego. The flyer also stated that he may have needed medical attention.
Shortly before Anderson was reported missing, he announced that the Tempe Improv was closing June 1. The Arizona Republic reported that Anderson had accused a competing comedy club of taking comics that used to play regularly at his Tempe, Ariz., venue.
