Tulsa police identified the man arrested after allegedly throwing Molotov cocktails at a downtown church, stabbing a school employee with a sword, and making threats at a nearby grocery store.
David Edwards is being held in Tulsa County Jail, according to the Tulsa Police Department. He will likely face charges of federal arson and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives told Fox 23 News.
DC DEPUTY MAYOR PLACED ON LEAVE FOLLOWING ALLEGED ASSAULT
On Wednesday around 4 p.m., Edwards allegedly approached the Holy Family Cathedral Church in Tulsa and made concerning remarks to a photographer taking school pictures of children on the lawn.
After the photographer alerted the front desk, the school went into lockdown and took the children inside.
School employee Rod Notzon confronted Edwards, at which time Edwards slashed his hands with a sword, officials said. Notzon was able to get back into the church and lock the doors, after which Edwards began throwing Molotov cocktails at the side of the church, police continued.
About an hour later, Edwards traveled to a south Tulsa Reasor’s grocery store and made bomb threats to people at the store, officials said.
