A 23-year-old Clinton man was sentenced to 25 years in prison for beating a Pizza Hut employee and stealing $80, prosecutors said.

Thomas Williams and an accomplice robbed the Clinton Pizza Hut in January. When they walked in, Williams hit the female employee at the cash register in the head with his gun and then grabbed cash from the register, authorities said. He and the other man then fled in a minivan.

But police were tipped off that Williams was behind the robbery and were waiting at his house when he returned with a green laundry bag containing the $80 he stole from the pizza shop. He was convicted by a jury in September.

“We hope this will end his career in crime and send a message to those in the streets that if you do the crime, you will do the time,” said Prince George’s County State’s Attorney Glenn Ivey.
