Teacher charged with sex battery
A middle school teacher was arrested on suspicion of inappropriately touching a 12-year-old female student, Prince William County Police said. Lawrence Eric Lucchetti, 33, of Alexandria, was charged with aggravated sexual battery and taking indecent liberties by a custodian, according to police. Police spokesman Officer Jonathan Perok said the alleged incident happened in a classroom at Beville Middle School in Woodbridge around 2:30 p.m. Friday. A school system spokeswoman said Lucchetti has been a teacher at Beville since 2002 and taught in its gifted program.
Cleaning lady stole checks from D.C. office
A member of a cleaning staff pleaded guilty to stealing $31,211 in checks from the D.C. Office of the Financial Officer, prosecutors said. Yesenia E. Amaya, 19, was employed by a building services company and cleaned the offices of the Economic Development and Regulation Center. Between July 2010 and November 2010, she took about 30 checks worth $31,211 from an office, added her name as a payee and took them to Maryland where she deposited them into her own account, prosecutors said. She faces six to 12 months in jail, prosecutors said.
Police shoot man who shot woman
Prince George’s County police are investigating a police-involved shooting of an armed man. Officer responded to the 3800 block of Cottage Terrace on Sunday to locate a suspect involved in a domestic-related shooting in Brentwood, police said. They were confronted by the armed suspect under a bridge, and an officer fired his weapon, striking the man in the upper body. The suspect, Edward McRavin, 49, of Colmar Manor, was taken to a hospital for treatment. Police said McRavin had shot a woman earlier that day and tried to fire at a 10-year-old boy, but his weapon misfired. The woman was taken to a hospital in critical condition.
