Final charges dismissed for flaming bar tricksThe last charges were dropped against two fire-breathing bartenders who were facing more than 35 years in prison earlier this summer.
A Fairfax County judge dismissed the last three misdemeanor charges against Tegee Rogers, 33, and Justin Fedorchak, 39.
The Jimmy’s Old Town Tavern employees agreed to never again perform the flaming bar tricks that had been a highlight at the bar on Friday nights for a decade.
Rogers and Fedorchak were hauled out of the Herndon bar in handcuffs shortly after midnight July 24 after they entertained customers by using bottles of alcohol and lighters to spit out streams of fire.
The men were also charged with felony manufacturing and using an explosive device, setting a fire capable of spreading, and burning or destroying a meeting house. Prosecutors dropped the felonies in August.
Officer killed in crash
A D.C. police officer was killed another injured when their cruiser crashed into a telephone pole early Saturday morning.
Officer Paul Dittamo, 32, and another officer were responding to a call at about 1:30 a.m. when their vehicle hit the pole on the 2200 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Ave. SE.
The other officer is expected to survive.
The crash is under investigation.
D.C. man gets 7 years for bite, sex attack
A Northwest Washington man was sentenced to seven years in prison for biting the flesh off his then-girlfriend and trying to rape her.
According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for D.C., 44-year-old Michael A. Ellison became angry and bit the victim on her bicep and forearm in an attempt to get her to have sex, cutting off chunks of flesh in the process. He then bit her three or four times on her cheeks, leaving scars on her face.
