D.C. Superior Court Judge Robert Rigsby — who is also a colonel in the U.S. Army Reserves — is being deployed to Iraq next month.
Rigsby, 46, will be sent to the Middle East, where he will serve as judge in criminal cases involving American troops.

This is not Rigsby’s first trip to the region. As a legal advisor to infantry units and military police, he has handled legal issues in Egypt, Korea, Japan, Kuwait and Saudi Arabia.
Rigsby, who is married to Judge Anna Blackburne Rigsby, will be honored April 9 with a reception at the Superior Court.
His deployment is April 25 and is expected to last up to six months.
