Woman arrested on assault, child abuse charges

A woman who assaulted her parents, threatened to kill her father while holding a knife and attempted to jump from a second-story window while holding her 1-year-old child was arrested Monday in Prince George’s County, officials said.

Kyra Chimere Smith, of Bowie, is charged with first- and second-degree assault, second-degree child abuse, reckless endangerment and possession of a dangerous weapon with intent to injure, according to the Prince George’s County Sheriff’s Office. She is being held at the Prince George’s County Department of Corrections on $175,000 bond. 

The arrest warrant from the Bowie Police Department was dated March 10, and Prince George’s sheriff’s deputies arrested her in Largo, officials said.
