Capitol Heights house blaze called ‘suspicious’

Authorities say three people were hurt in a Capitol Heights blaze overnight that fire officials are calling “suspicious.”

The fire broke out at a house on the 1400 block of Early Oaks Lane about 4:15 a.m. Tuesday, according to Prince George’s County fire and emergency services.

The five adults and four children in the house escaped before fire crews arrived.

An adult male and a child suffered minor injuries, the fire department said. One firefighter suffered a hand laceration. All were treated at local hospitals.

Fire officials said it took an hour and 15 minutes to extinguish the blaze. Officials called the fire “suspicious” but said its cause and origin are still under investigation.

The home was completely destroyed in the fire.
