Woman dragged into woods, sexually assaulted in Fairfax

Police say a young woman was dragged into a wooded area and sexually assaulted in Burke.

Fairfax County police said the 24-year-old woman was walking on the 9700 block of Commonwealth Boulevard when a man grabbed her from behind and pulled her into nearby woods at about 10 p.m. Wednesday.

The man sexually assaulted the woman at knifepoint, said Officer Bud Walker, a police spokesman. Walker said described the sexual assault as “serious” but would not give further details.

The suspect fled after he was startled by a noise and the woman summoned help.

Police described the suspect as white, about 5 feet 7 inches tall and wearing a sweatshirt. Anyone who has information can call police at 703-691-2131 or Crime Solvers at 866-411-TIPS (8477). Tipsters can also send a text message that says “TIP187” plus the information to CRIMES (274637).
