Three officers dead and two others injured in Pennsylvania shooting

Three officers were killed and two others were injured in a shooting in Pennsylvania while serving a warrant on Wednesday.

Authorities said the suspect in the shooting was killed by police after officers responded to a domestic disturbance from the day before.

The shooting occurred in North Codorus Township in southern Pennsylvania, about 115 miles away from Philadelphia.

Gov. Josh Shapiro (D-PA) at a press conference Wednesday evening described an “absolutely tragic and devastating day for York County and for the entire commonwealth of Pennsylvania.”

“We grieve the loss of life of three precious souls who served this county, served this commonwealth, and served this country,” he added. Shapiro said he met with the families of the officers who were killed.

Attorney General Pamela Bondi said violence against law enforcement was “a scourge on our society” and added that federal officers were assisting at the scene.

“The grief will be unbearable, but we will bear it,” Pennsylvania State Police Commissioner Christopher Paris said.

The two injured officers were in critical but stable condition, authorities said.

Police dispatchers received calls around 2:10 p.m. about the incident. The Philadelphia Division Office for the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives said agents from the ATF Harrisburg Field Office assisted at the scene.

Pennsylvania Attorney General Dave Sunday said he would also head to the scene. Sunday urged via social media for “all residents to follow the instructions of local law enforcement” and that he is “praying for all involved.”
