The U.S. Marshals are looking for a Prince William man suspected of shooting his wife’s boss before disappearing from the area.
Chan Kyung Lee, 42, of Gainesville, is wanted for alleged malicious wounding and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony.
On Dec. 16, 2007, Lee went to the home of his wife’s employer in Woodbridge to confront him over a domestic dispute. He and the 60-year-old man got into a physical altercation, authorities allege, and Lee pulled out a handgun and shot the victim twice, once in the arm and hip, before the gun jammed.
Lee dropped the gun and fled the scene in his green 2005 Toyota Scion, police said. The victim was taken to an area hospital and survived.
Lee should be considered extremely dangerous, said supervisory inspector Barry Boright, of the Capital Area Regional Task Force.
“The unexpected nature of this crime — considering Lee has no criminal history or previous contact with police — is very disconcerting,” Boright said. “This leads us to believe that he is very unstable and unpredictable.”
Lee was living with his family on Carver Road at the time of the shooting. The Scion was recovered in Annandale shortly after the incident. He was last seen in Gaithersburg shortly after the shooting.
Anyone with information on Lee’s whereabouts can call the U.S. Marshals Service at 1-800-336-0102. Law enforcement authorities are offering a reward for information leading to Lee’s arrest.
The Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force, run by the U.S. Marshals Service, is composed of 28 federal state and local agencies from Baltimore to Norfolk, Va. The unit has captured 17,000 wanted fugitives since its creation in 2004.
