Man shot in thigh in Southeast D.C.

A man was shot in Southeast D.C. this morning, police said.

About 12:27 a.m., two people were in a car in the 3300 block of 22nd Street SE when someone approached them and demanded money. A struggle ensued, during which the assailant shot one of the people in the thigh, D.C. police spokesman Officer Araz Alali said.

The man who was shot was conscious and breathing and taken to a hospital, Alali said.

The gunman was described only as a black male with dreadlocks, Alali said.
