28 dead animals, dozens of pets pulled from house
A 33-year-old woman has been charged with animal cruelty after police say they found 28 dead animals and dozens of others still alive, but in horrid conditions, in a Mount Vernon house. Police were called to Megan Barber’s home on Ramsgate Terrace after neighbors complained of foul odors issuing from her house. Inside they found two dozen live cats, five dogs, nine birds and several small mammals living among 28 dead animals, their feces and other debris, authorities said.
