Ten people were hospitalized in a mass shooting at the Mall of Louisiana on Thursday following an argument in the food court, police said.

Videos posted on social media showed a large law enforcement response, with a fleet of police vehicles. Multiple gunshots could be heard.

In a press conference shortly after, police said they responded “very quickly,” and the quick response of paramedics meant no deaths were immediately reported. They said the shooting was the escalation of a fight between two groups of people at the food court.

“It looks like it was targeted. Two groups of people got into an argument in the food court and started shooting at each other,” a police official said.

“I am aware of the active shooter scene at the Mall of Louisiana,” Gov. Jeff Landry (R-LA) said in a post on X earlier in the evening. “I am in coordination with law enforcement and we will update as we know more. Please avoid the area. [First lady of Louisiana Sharon Landry] and I are praying for those affected and are grateful for a quick response by our law enforcement officials.”
