The remains of a Capitol Heights man missing for nearly two years were found in a Prince George’s County park, and police are investigating the death as a homicide. Police said the body of Anthony J. Nelson was found on March 5 in a wooded area of the Marlton Community Park.
A medical examiner confirmed his identity this month. Cpl. Erica Johnson, a Prince George’s County police spokeswoman, said she didn’t know how Nelson was killed or how long the remains had been in the park before they were found.
Nelson was reported missing on Aug. 16, 2008. The night he disappeared, an armed home invasion was reported at his residence. Johnson said it’s not clear whether the disappearance and invasion are linked.
