Suspect wields handgun, umbrella in Potomac bank robbery

Montgomery County police are on the lookout for a masked man who robbed a Potomac bank at gunpoint.

Police said the heist happened at about 9:40 a.m. Friday at the M&T Bank branch located at 10100 River Road.

The robber entered the bank, approached a teller while brandishing a handgun and demanded cash, police said. The man fled on foot from the bank’s front door toward River Road, then to the rear of the shopping center where the branch is located.

Police didn’t disclose how much cash the robber obtained. No one was injured during the robbery.
