An husband and wife died after a Thursday car crash in Fairfax County, officials said.
Joseph Hagan, 89, and his wife, 81-year-old Sumiko Hagan, died after being taken to a local hospital. Joseph Hagan drove the 2008 Scion involved in the crash and Sumiko Hagan was a passenger, according to the Fairfax County Police Department.
Shortly before 11 a.m. Thursday, officers responded to the crash in the 8200 block of Greensboro Drive, near the Tysons Galleria mall.
An investigation revealed that Joseph Hagan accelerated the car as it entered a parking garage and traveled down a narrow ramp. The car struck a concrete pole and an unoccupied parked vehicle head-on.
