Motorcyclist killed in Rockville
A motorcycle rider was killed after he fell from his vehicle and struck a parking meter. It happened around 6:30 a.m., Thursday in the 12200 block of Wilkins Avenue in Rockville. The man was traveling south when the motorcycle suddenly fell on its side and the driver slipped off the vehicle and hit a pole. Police identified the rider as Charles Arthur Holliday, 30, of Waynesboro, Pa. He died at the scene.
Violent gang leader, cousin, convicted in deadly attack A street gang leader was found guilty of two counts of first-degree murder, conspiracy and obstruction of justice in a violent assault in Columbia Heights that left two men dead and three wounded. Azariah Israel is already serving 64 years for shooting a 7-Eleven employee and 53 years for the murder of another witness. Israel and his cousin Emanuel Jenkins were found guilty of targeting one of the witnesses to the Columbia Heights attack.
D.C. burglar gets 10 years
A serial burglar who targeted homes around Dupont Circle and Connecticut Avenue in Northwest Washington was sentenced to 10-and-a-half years in prison, District prosecutors announced Thursday. Police said Willie Carter, 57, gained entry though at least five homes by cutting window screens.
