Teenager cyclist in critical condition

A juvenile remained in critical condition Sunday afternoon after being struck by hit-and-run driver while riding his bike in Southeast Washington, authorities said.

D.C. police spokesman Officer Hugh Carew said the car continued on after hitting the boy on the 1500 block of Alabama Avenue about 11:30 p.m. Saturday.

The vehicle was stopped in Prince George’s County at Vermillion Avenue and Wheeler Road in Oxon Hill, police said.

It was unclear whether the driver was taken into custody.

A Silver Spring man has been charged in a scheme to steal credit card information from customers at area restaurants.

Federal investigators said Sidiky Bayakoko, who worked at the Sushiko at 5444 Wisconsin Ave. in Chevy Chese and the Rock Creek restaurant at 5300 Wisconsin Ave. in D.C., admitted to working with at least two conspirators.

According to charging documents, the trio used a device that captured credit card account information from customers, which was then used to create fraudulent credit cards and ring up thousands of dollars in illegal purchases from area stores.

Capital Beltway driver

Police arrested the driver in a hit-and-ran crash on the Capital Beltway.

Maryland State Police said the vehicle struck another vehicle that had been disabled in the northbound lane of Interstate 495 near River Road in Bethesda on Saturday night. The driver of the disabled vehicle was taken to a hospital.

A witness in another car followed the striking vehicle as it continued north on Interstate 495 and onto Interstate 270, until police arrived to pull the car over. Charges are pending against the man, whose name has not been released.
