Coach charged with sexting student

Prince William County police have arrested a football coach at Stonewall Jackson High School, saying he sent lewd messages to a 16-year-old female student.

Police said 42-year-old William Dignan sent numerous sexual messages to the girl by phone and by e-mail. When officers executed a search warrant at Dignan’s home in Gainesville, they said they found marijuana.

Dignan, who teaches government classes at Jackson, was charged with indecent liberties by a custodian and use of a communication device to facilitate an offense with a minor.

Dignan’s roommate, 31-year-old Nicholas Rosser, was charged with possession of marijuana. Police said Rosser also coaches football at Jackson High.

School officials said they had no comment in the case.
