D.C. man identified as fatal shooting victimD.C. police have identified the man who was fatally shot Tuesday night in Northeast Washington.
The shooting happened around 6 p.m. in the 1500 block of 45th Street Northeast. When police arrived they found 21-year-old Howard Ricardo Sampler, of Southeast Washington, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Sampler was taken to a hospital where he later died, police said.
The Metropolitan Police Department is offering a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone who provides information that leads to an arrest in Sampler’s death. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 202-727-9099 or 888-919-CRIME.
Man charged in Northeast stabbing death
D.C. police have arrested a man in connection with a December stabbing death in Northeast.
Police said 46-year-old John William Smith Jr. is charged with second-degree murder while armed in the Dec. 4 slaying of 47-year-old Elaine Coleman.
Coleman was found dead inside a building on the 500 block of 23rd Place Northeast at about 12:30 a.m. She had suffered multiple stab wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene, authorities said.
Police said Smith was taken into custody Tuesday afternoon.
