A 30-year-old man has pleaded guilty to having sex with a 17-year-old girl who was one of his students at a high school in Winchester, Va.

Adrian A. Ellis, of Waynesboro, was sentenced to five months behind bars. He admitted in court to serving the girl alcohol and having sex with her from 2008 until his arrest in March.

Ellis taught art and photography at John Handley High School.

Girl accosted on way to school An 11-year-old girl was robbed and inappropriately touched by a man while she walked to school in Silver Spring on Wednesday, Montgomery County police said.

The girl was on her way to White Oak Middle School when the man ran up from behind, grabbed her bag and patted her down, before running off.

Prison escapee caught with gun

An inmate who escaped from a maximum-security prison in Cumberland was caught carrying a loaded .22-caliber handgun, Maryland State Police said.

Trooper 1st Class Jason Langley told the Cumberland Times-News that Kevin Corcoran broke into an unoccupied home in Potomac Park after walking away from a work detail Tuesday.

Police said Corcoran stole the gun, ammunition, alcohol and prescription medicine, before firing a shot into a wall and walking into the nearby woods, where he was caught without incident Tuesday afternoon.
