Driver in Chevy Chase crash died from his injuries

A driver who crashed a stolen car police were pursuing in Chevy Chase on March 23 has died from his injuries, police said.

Reynard Osman, 16, of Washington, died on Wednesday at around 5:40 p.m., Montgomery County police said. Two backseat passengers, 16-year-old Emanuel Nelson and 14-year-old Tyree Nelson, were pronounced dead at the scene at the time of the incident.

Early in the morning on March 23, the Toyota Echo that Osman was driving crashed into a tree at Chevy Chase Circle. Officers had tried to stop the car because it had been reported stolen, police said, but Osman didn’t pull over.

After the crash, officers saw flames and tried to control the fire. Police were able to get Osman and front-seat passenger Reeco Richardson out of the car, but the car became completely engulfed by flames and officers were unable to rescue the two backseat passengers, police said.

Osman was taken to a hospital on the day of the incident with life-threatening injuries, police said. Richardson was taken to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries on the day of the incident.
